Safety
Meeting, handing over gear, and using it sensibly.

What we do, and what we do not
Rentrio keeps your email address and phone number off the site, holds the renter’s payment until the rental is complete, records who confirmed each handover, and gives both people a place to put photographs on record. Reviews are tied to real completed rentals, so they cannot be manufactured.
We do not vet or background-check anyone, we do not verify identity documents, and we do not inspect items. Use your own judgement, the same as you would with any stranger you arranged to meet.
Some accounts carry a Verified business mark. That means Rentrio confirmed the business name and the street address shown on the listing, and nothing more — we have not inspected their items, checked anyone’s identity documents, or taken on any part of the rental. The same rules, fees, and value limit apply to them as to every other account.
Meeting up
- Meet somewhere public and busy in daylight where you can.
- Bring someone with you if the item is large or valuable.
- Keep the conversation in Rentrio messaging. If something goes wrong, that thread is the record.
- Be wary of anyone who wants to move off-platform, pay by transfer, or skip the handover confirmation. That is how both of you lose your protection under the process.
- If it feels wrong, leave. No rental is worth it.
At the handover
- Look the item over together before money and gear change hands.
- Take photographs from a few angles. Both of you can, and both of you should.
- Note anything already damaged, in writing, at the time.
- Check it works. Turn it on, inflate it, extend it — whatever applies.
- Confirm the pickup in the app once you are happy. The rental does not start until you both do.
Using the gear
Equipment you have not used before deserves ten minutes of reading first. Wear the protective gear the activity calls for. If an item seems unsafe, stop using it and tell the owner — do not push through and hope.
For owners
- Photograph the item before every rental, not just when you write the listing.
- Say what it cannot do as clearly as what it can.
- Do not rent out safety-critical gear whose history you do not know.
- Check the renter’s reviews, and decline a request you are not comfortable with. You are never obliged to accept.
If something goes wrong
Report a problem on the booking. That holds the owner’s payout while it is looked at, and puts the whole record in front of an administrator. See disputes and incident reporting.
If someone is in danger, or a crime has been committed, call emergency services first and tell us afterwards. We are a marketplace, not an emergency service.
